On 18 March 2026, the 2nd doctoral student workshop brought together students and their advisers from academia and industry at Bofors Hotel, Karlskoga. Two sessions and one company visit were conducted. Prof. Anders W. Jarfors delivered an inspiring first session on the success of doctoral projects in general and within an industrial setting. Navigating between research and the solution of engineering problems for the company is key. Biases, miscommunication, and silo-thinking are common pitfalls. The second section, by James Lee, GIO@KAU, discussed the NABC pitching technique and had doctoral students pitch their project ideas. After lunch, the participant visited Björneborg Steel AB and saw the main manufacturing steps for gear, rotor, and shaft forgings. The school thanks SAAB Dynamics for hosting the workshop and organizing the visit to Björneborg Steel AB!
